Jennifer Finger

is General Counsel for Sigma Risk Management. She is a graduate of Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, MA. She practiced commercial litigation in Boston before moving to Nashville and has worked as counsel for healthcare companies in the Nashville area since 2005.

Steve Brown, SCLA, AIC

Steve Brown, is the Director of Professional Liability (PL) Claims for SIGMA Risk Management, TN. He is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati. He has earned the professional designations of SCLA (Senior Claim Law Associate) from the American Educational Institute and AIC (Associate in Claims) from the Insurance Institute of America.  He was previously employed by the Hartford Insurance Group as a claim manager, Podiatry Insurance Company of America as the VP of Claims and HCA (Hospital Corp of America) where he was responsible for the PL claims in their Georgia and Tennessee hospitals. He has handled correctional healthcare claims since 2007. Steve was given a national award from Risk and Insurance Magazine when he was selected to receive the Risk and Insurance Risk Innovator Award for demonstrating innovation and excellence in risk management.

Mike Davis

obtained his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Georgia. He has extensive experience in civil litigation, specializing in defending medical providers in medical malpractice actions and claims brought under 42 U.S.C. Section 1983. Prior to joining Sigma Risk Management as the Director of Pro Se Claims, Mike was a partner at the law firm of Nall &
Miller, LLP in Atlanta, Georgia, where he gained expertise in efficiently resolving pro se claims brought by inmates regarding prison medical care. Mike has also previously worked as a Staff Attorney for the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Mike lives in Atlanta and loves cheering on his Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves.

Thomas (Tom) Smith, CPCU, SCLA, AIC

Thomas Smith is a Senior Professional Liability Litigation Manager for SIGMA Risk Management. He graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing. Tom earned insurance professional designations of AIC (Associate in Claims) from the Insurance Institute of America in 2002, SCLA (Senior Claim Law Associate) from the American Educational Institute in 2004 and CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) from The Institutes in 2008.  He worked in retail management and sales for 9 years before beginning his insurance and claims career in 1993. Tom has worked in auto, commercial and general liability claims and management with Graward General, CNA, US Auto and Harleysville Insurance in the past. He has been managing professional liability litigation claims since 2007 with PHS, Corizon, YesCare and now SIGMA Risk Management.

Britt Herron

Britt Herron is a Senior Professional Liability Litigation Manager for Sigma Risk Management. He is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara. He attended a program at the Depaul University School of Law and earned a certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution for Claims Professionals. He worked previously as a claims professional for Allstate Insurance Company, Firemans Fund Insurance Company, CNA Insurance Companies, St. Paul Insurance Company, Physicians Protective Trust Fund, MAG Mutual Insurance Company and Zurich. Over the course of his career starting in 1992, he has been responsible for managing and resolving over thousands of medical negligence cases brought against a variety of healthcare professionals, hospitals and other medical facilities. From 2007 to the present, he been responsible for managing correctional healthcare claims in various jurisdictions located throughout the United States.

James M. Rachal, Esq.,

James M. Rachal, Professional Liability Litigation Manager for SIGMA Risk Management, TN. He is a graduate of Northwestern State University(LA), and Loyola School of Law, New Orleans. He was previously employed at Caronia Corporation as a Branch Manager, LAMMICO(Louisiana Medical Mutual Insurance Company)  as Claims Manager, Physicians Protective Trust Fund (Coral Gables FL) as Director of Claims office, Pro National-Southern Division as Administrative Vice President and Director of Claims, ProAssurance -Northern Division(Indianapolis) as Regional Vice President for Indiana and Kentucky, Health Care Indemnity-HCI (Insurance Division of Hospital Corporation of America-Nashville) as Senior Claims Supervisor. He has handled correctional healthcare claims since 2017.

Kris Morss

Kris Morss has worked as a Corporate Paralegal and litigation manager in the correctional healthcare industry since July 2014. Kris has over 15 years of experience in various areas of law and provides direct support to in-house counsel. She is excited to be part of the Sigma Risk Management team and the opportunities and challenges ahead.

Christopher Van Gelder

Christopher Van Gelder is a Litigation Paralegal who has worked for several of the most prominent labor and employment law firms over the past 20 years. His experience stretches across numerous areas of law (with a concentration in labor and employment, eDiscovery, and litigation holds), enabling him to effectively provide direct support to General Counsel, Litigation Managers, and our various in-house counsel. Christopher is excited to be part of the Sigma Risk Management team and for the opportunity
to supply his knowledge and support within the eDiscovery and litigation hold spaces.

Lynette Corbitt

Lynette Corbitt has worked in the correctional healthcare industry for 23 years in both finance and professional liability claims management. Lynette currently serves as the professional liability Business Manager and supervises the professional liability claims assistants and insurance analyst.

Lawanda Mckinnon

Lawanda Mckinnon is a Professional Liability Claims Administrative Assistant with 25+ years of experience in customer service, hospitality and building management as well as 5+ years in Professional Liability Claims/Risk Management. She attended Tennessee State University. She is a Native of Nashville, Tennessee, and highly motivated to assist in a wide range of office administration tasks. She helps support the litigation team on claims and all risk management needs. Lawanda also acts as Liaison between all departments to ensure information is distributed efficiently. Lawanda is a mother of 2 who enjoys writing, traveling, music, watching movies and spending time with family.

Linda Krantz

Linda Krantz has worked for 10 years serving as the Professional Liability Claims/Insurance Analyst. Previously, she worked as a CMA – Clinical Supervisor for a busy Ear, Nose and Throat, Head and Neck Cancer medical group for 23 years and for 10 years as Patient Advocate for Blue Shield of California, Healthy Families division.
